It’s Just a Job! (Updated with the Answer)

a-to-z-letters-j is for JOB!

I’ve played many roles over the years since I became an adult.  I think most of you, unless you know me well, would not believe the variety in the jobs I’ve performed.  So today, let’s play a little game!

I’m going to describe some of the jobs I’ve held over the years and include one job that is a total and complete lie.  At the end of the post, you vote in the poll for the job that you think I’ve never held.  This is your chance to be a Human Lie Detector!  I’ll reveal the answer in tomorrow’s post!

Lie-Detector1
One of the first jobs I held was delivering newspapers – the Sunday New York Times.  Have you ever purchased a Sunday edition of the New York Times?  It’s a huge, thick paper!  At the time I was a teen, driving a 1974 VW Bug, stuffed full of the papers that I then delivered to area retailers early on Sunday mornings.

After my stint as a papergirl, a friend tipped me off on a job opening at a local bookstore.  I worked there for several months until I discovered Baby Girl would be arriving in the spring of 1991.  My pregnancy with her left me exhausted and with pretty severe morning sickness throughout the entire 9 months.  I left the bookstore and wouldn’t work again until after Baby Girl was several months old.

While I was still a teen I next worked for a balloon store!  At this job I helped assemble balloon “bouquets” and delivered them.  We also set up balloon decorations like balloon arches for proms, weddings and other special occasionsThe BEST part of the job?  Delivery often included me serenading the recipient of the balloon arrangement on a kazoo!  Sometimes, on really special occasions, I was dressed in a costume as well.  I swear, I have no shame!

This isn't me...but I looked like this!            Visit www.janicegriffin.com if you'd like this "Chickie Chick" to come sing for you!

Other jobs I’ve held include:  home daycare provider, Avon Lady, Hooter’s waitress, cocktail waitress, auto body shop helper, Executive Administrator for a Land Development Company, In-Home Assistant to the Elderly, Mystery Shopper, Telemarketer, Volunteer Guardian ad Litem, Boy Scout Troop Leader, Girl Scout Group Leader, PTA President, Youth Advocate, Computer Teacher, Stay-at-Home Mom and Soccer Coach.

I think that about covers it.  Only one of the jobs listed is one I haven’t actually held!  Think you know which one?  Well, here’s your chance – vote below for the job you think I’ve never held.  Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below as well!  I’ll be back tomorrow with the answer!

Which job do you think I DID NOT do?

How did you vote?  Why?

UPDATE:

Of all these jobs, only one is a fake!   And the Hooter's Waitress job is a real one (that's my name tag)!  I was never a telemarketer.  Thanks for your guesses and comments!

  5. You've done all that? Apart from one, of course. A life well lived - that's what I would say. I'll also go for Hooter's as my vote. Seems to stand out more then the others!!
