While preparing Mr. Pre-teen for his FIRST EVER school dance:
ReplyDeleteMe: Now, you do know you have to dance at this thing, right?
Mr. Pre-teen: Yeah.
Me: No, I mean, slow dance.
Mr. Pre-teen: Huh?
Me: You put your hands on their hips....
(interrupted)
Mr. Pre-teen: What! Ewww....I'm not touching a girl!
Ya know, because we have cooties or something. But he found the idea of spinning them during a song fun. Without them knowing it's coming, of course, so he can scare them crap out of them!
While getting the students ready to go home (pre-kindergarden class), a girl and I have this conversation:
ReplyDeleteHer: Is today 'once in a while'?
Me: What?
Her: Is today 'once in a while'?
Me: I don't know what you mean?
Her: My dentist said I can have candy 'once in a while'. Is that today?
(after I suppressed my laughter...)
Me: Oh, I don't know. You'll have to ask your mom.
I love this one! It reminds me to always ask a child to explain if I don't understand...
